Gravestone Ceremony
The 69th Pa returned again to Holy Cross Cemetery on Sunday April 8th
to honor four more soldiers with ceremonies at their graves. The regimental
and National flag led the procession from grave to grave as for the first time
since their respective deaths that they were honored for their role in the Civil
War as members of the 69th Pa "Irish Volunteers". Captain Scott Eller placed
soil from ireland on each grave after Irish and America flags were placed by
the 69th ladies. The war record of each man was read by Private Don
Ernsberger at each ceremony concluded with "taps" by Drew Nugent.
