"Cold it was and the new snow covered in white the fields that once ran red with
blood. Again in 2018 they gathered, arriving Friday afternoon and Saturday
morning to honor to the men of the 69th Pa who fought and had fallen there in July
of 1863. Thirty men at arms and a dozen of their ladies plus descendants and
visitors came to the sacred ground. First to the cemetery where 21 of fallen lie
buried. Each man's "final resting place" visited as their life's story was read aloud.
They would march to the 69th monument at the stone wall, this year to
honor in roll call the men of Company I. Words of emotion and dedication were
spoken and all rededicated themselves to honor those who risked it all beneath
the green flag of battle."    Another year in a string of endless years.
