The 69th continues it efforts to both locate the final resting places of the men who fought
in the regiment during the Civil War and where needed to place a gravestone on long
deserved graves. Four more members of the regiment were honored on Sunday May
27th at the Old Cathedral cemetery in North Philadelphia. "Irish Soil" was placed on each
grave as well as a three volley salute given. A short biography of each soldier was read
and flags placed. Despite a morning of rain 17 members were joined by large numbers
of descendants for the ceremony.
