NEW CATHEDRAL CEMETERY
Veterans Day Ceremony October 9, 2019
 The annual Veterans Day gravestone ceremony was held by the 69th Pa "Irish
Volunteers" at New Cathedral Cemetery in North Philadelphia. Eighteen soldiers
and eight of our ladies assembled in cold weather to honor 5 more veterans of the
1861 - 1865 Civil War. This year camera crews from two differant TV stations (FOX
29 & WPVI 6) filmed the musket fire; reading of biography; placement of Irish soil;
and ceremonial prayers for each soldier. The regiment continues to locate gravesites;
finance stones, contact descendants and raise funds for the ongoing project. To date we
have placed 91 new stones and held ceremonies over 145 burial sites of our lads.
